PLAYWRIGHT

was produced in 2013 at Theatre at St. Clement's by Capolavori Productions nytheatre.com The New Yorker blogcritics.

HEART OF A DOG was produced in 1990 at CSC Repertory, The New York Times Review Jace Alexander by Hirschfeld Village Voice Review New York and as a reading by Hawk and Handsaw Company in 1994, and in a different version in 1981 at the McCarter Theater, Princeton, New Jersey, and in 1982 at the University of California, Riverside.

THE SHEIK was produced as a reading at Medicine Show in 2007, and then as a production. The New York Times Review  The Sheik  NYTheatre.com Review.

THE LANDLORD'S DAUGHTER was produced as a reading at the Manhattan Theater Club and at Symphony Space. REDUCED VOLTAGE and CLEANING SOLUTION were produced at the Direct Theater, New York. JONATHAN WILD was produced at the Houston Playwright's Theater.

LYRICIST-LIBRETTIST
Member of Lehman Engel's BMI Musical Theater Workshop from 1975 until Mr. Engel's death in 1982, and with Bill Grossman, Skip Kennon and Bob Trien wrote songs that were performed in three of the workshop's showcases. At Juilliard wrote additional lyrics for the 1985 production of THE BEGGAR'S OPERA (music arranged by Stanley Silverman and Edward Flower).  Wrote lyrics for Raphael Crystal’s music for MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING, THE WINTER'S TALE and LOVE'S LABOR'S LOST, produced by Cressid at Lincoln Center and elsewhere, as well as for LOVE ME, LOVE ME NOT.

TEACHER
For JUILLIARD (1981-1992): Instructor in Shakespearean verse acting; student project director; coordinator of the Playwrights-In-Residence Program; literary manager; dramaturg. For NEW YORK UNIVERSITY TISCH SCHOOL OF THE ARTS DRAMATIC WRITING DEPARTMENT (1989-2013): "Shakespeare for Writers," a study of 12 of Shakespeare's plays. For NYU UNDERGRADUATE DRAMA DIVISION (1991-99): teacher, dramaturg and director for the Classical Studio, a comprehensive training program using the classical repertory; in the fall semester, 1999, taught Medieval Theater, a study of religious and secular drama in Middle English, Medieval French and Latin.

Made singing translations of arias from DIE MEISTERSINGER, DIE ENTFÜHRUNG, DON GIOVANNI, and IL BARBIERE and several Schubert songs; "The Elfking" was performed at Symphony Space's Wall-To-Wall Schubert Day.
